Bridgwater & Taunton College celebrated National Careers Week 2021 by hosting an array of employer talks and workshops. The week-long event attracted top employers including Magnox, the NHS, EDF, Wessex Water and Thatchers.

National Careers Week (NCW) is a celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. The aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people leaving education.

Students received careers advice, progression opportunities and information from a range of speakers across many industry sectors virtually.

Liz Redwood, Head of Employer Relations, comments:

Whatever situation our employers have found themselves in throughout these unprecedented times, they have continued to support the college and our students. I have been amazed by the generosity and goodwill that has been shown at a time that has impacted everyone in some way.

Bridgwater & Taunton College has had a long history of strong employer partner relationships, and were recently honoured to receive the City and Guilds Award for College Engagement with Employers, announced by Julia Belgutay, Head of Further Education at Tes, at the AoC Beacon Awards 2020-21.

Our thanks also goes to Branston, Somerset Care, Numatic, Thales, Matravers, Shared Apprenticeships, Beehive Day Nursery, Midas, Willmott Dixon, NHS, Engie, the Army and Yeo Valley, who all provided inspirational talks and activities for our students.
