A group of students studying Arboriculture at Bridgwater College visited Chew Valley Trees recently as part of their course to see how trees and shrubs are grown in industry.

The group were given a guided tour of the site by Dale James, Nursery Manager at Chew Valley Trees, which gave the students an insight into the way trees are grown, cared for and distributed on a large scale. The informative visit raised the students’ awareness about the diversity of the industry, the systems used to grow the highest quality trees in sustainable ways and the innovative technology used within each process.

Dale James said,

“Every year Bridgwater College visit our nursery. It’s great to see budding arborists taking hold of their future to develop careers working with trees and the living environment.”

Mike Cullen, Programme Manager for Arboriculture at Bridgwater College added,

“Arboriculture is not just about swinging around in trees using ropes and chainsaws, many of our students will one day be planning and creating the woodlands, gardens and tree-scapes of the future. This visit reinforced the industry need for well trained, well equipped arborists who know their trees, where they come from and how they fit in the landscape. We’re privileged to have Chew Valley Trees support our students by allowing us behind the scenes access in this way.”
