Bridgwater College Floristry students are once again enjoying the taste of success, with three impressive accolades being announced in just one week.

For the fourth year running, all students studying the Level 2 Diploma in Floristry at Bridgwater College’s Cannington Centre, achieved high grades in their final exam. Another fantastic announcement for the floristry department was that Angela Robertson, who is studying the Level 3 Diploma in Floristry, has been awarded a City & Guilds Medal of Excellence.

The icing on the cake came for the group when Kayleigh Jolly, former student of Taunton Academy, received a medal from Mike Robbins, Principal of Bridgwater College, for her outstanding performance during the spring term.

Jacqui Weaver, Programme Manager for Floristry at the College said,

“The floristry team are extremely proud of the high success rates our learners continue to achieve and these accolades are a credit to their dedication to the course and their high aspirations. Only 100 Medal of Excellence awards are presented by City & Guilds across all subject areas each year. Winners are selected from thousands of entries and standards are extremely high; Angela produced an amazing portfolio of work and will be invited to attend a regional award ceremony in April to receive her medal.”

Floristry Lecturer Kaleah Teasdale, who joined the College’s floristry department in September said,

“I am delighted to be part of a team who offer our students such a wide range of opportunities to build their employability skills through a variety of diverse learning experiences. April will be a very busy month for us as we are hosting the semi-final of the SmithersOasis College competition, we have entrants in the WorldSkillsUK competition and in May we are holding our first charity fundraising Flower Festival at Cannington Parish Church. It really is an exciting time for our floristry students.”

Angela Robertson, commented on her award,

“I am very pleased and honoured to win a Medal of Excellence from City & Guilds. I would like to thank my tutor Jacqui Weaver for submitting my Level 2 Floristry portfolio and also for supporting me achieve a high standard of work. Being a student at Bridgwater College’s Cannington Centre has been a great experience which I have thoroughly enjoyed.”
