Cannington Golf Club recently saw four of its members and captains drive into office. They are: Harry White, Junior Captain; Nick Prince, Club Captain; Justine Ison, Women’s Captain and Mike Jackson, Seniors Vice- Captain.

Driving into office is a traditional act, which was started by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, when their club captain drives into office by hitting a tee shot from the first tee in front of the members.

Ron Macrow, Golf Manager and Professional said,

“Driving into office can be quite an event and usually tees off the new season. It is normal practice for all the section captains, such as Harry, Justine and Mike, to join the club captain in the driving into office ceremony here at Cannington.”

Justine Ison, Women’s Captain said,

“I have my husband to thank for his kind persuasion for me to embrace this sport. Having been given lessons at Cannington Golf Centre as a present, I had the warmest welcome you are ever likely to receive. We have a small but very friendly ladies section here and it is my pleasure to have been voted as Women’s Captain for the second year running.

“The ladies meet on a Thursday at 9.30 for a relaxed 9 or 18 holes and again on a Sunday. Encouragement is always offered us by staff and members so it is my hope that our ladies section will grow and grow. We would love for anyone interested in taking up golf pay us a visit, and you have my personal promise that a warm welcome awaits!”
