Nadia attended a grand final at Google HQ on 5 June and took part in a series of challenges and an interview to prove she had what it took to be the best in the business. She wowed a judging panel with her passion and dedication to her trade. Her enthusiasm, drive and commitment to joinery and furniture making also stood out amongst the finalists, along with her ambition to teach her trade to others. Finally, her extensive portfolio in furniture making showed the judges a range of very impressive and bespoke pieces of furniture she is able to craft.

Nadia commented,

“I am delighted that I have won the title of Screwfix Trade Apprentice 2015. I love furniture making and I’m constantly thinking of the next thing I can build! I’ve had a fantastic year so far and hopefully this award will help me inspire other people to take up such a rewarding profession.”

In its first year, this highly competitive award led by leading multi-channel retailer, Screwfix, aims to recognise and champion the best trade apprentices in the UK.

Andrew Livingston, CEO of Screwfix, comments,

“Trade professionals are the backbone of Britain, helping to keep our homes and businesses in working order, therefore it’s vital that we ensure apprentices are skilled up to develop a strong future for the UK trade industry. We launched the Screwfix Trade Apprentice of 2015 award to find the best apprentices and students and to help them to get a head start in their careers.

“Nadia is an example of a young person who we believe will be an outstanding tradeswoman in the future. We would like to wish her the best of luck and look forward to hearing about their future successes.”

The ultimate business and trade bundle worth £10,000, which has been presented to Nadia, includes a printing design package supplied by MOO, a Nexus smartphone and tablet supplied by Google, a top of the range laptop with all accessories and £4,000 worth of funding to spend on career enhancing courses and workshops.
