Bridgwater College students studying Business and Travel are lucky enough to be meeting local business men and women to help them gain an idea of future career pathways available to them.
The theme of all our presentations is progression and destination, this gives our students the opportunity to learn more about industries and hopefully allow them to discover future careers and progression opportunities.
The first guest speaker for this year was Billy Ferris, HR Executive from Butlins in Minehead. Billy began his presentation by giving our students an idea of how he came to his role, his history with Butlins and how he started in the industry. Billy also gave the students an insight into what it would be like to work at Butlins, what the company expect of its staff. Above all it gave the students an understanding of careers available within the sector.
It was great to have Billy with us, he was a fabulous speaker and had our students captivated throughout. Our students said after that they really enjoyed the presentation, making a particular impact on Jodie Inman, student from North Petherton, who said,
“I thought Billy was great, a really informative, funny, confident and passionate speaker who gave me a fabulous insight into Butlins and progression opportunities in the sector, it was extremely worthwhile.”
Billy Ferris said,
“I deliver speeches to a number of different colleges and schools but praise the interest shown by todays students, they were enthusiastic and prepared insightful questions for me, they are one of the best groups I have presented to.”
