Students studying the Entry to Land-Based course at Bridgwater College’s Crockers Centre in Cannington, recently unveiled the newest addition to their centre, an animal care building, named after the College’s Principal, Mike Robbins.

Under the guidance of the Centre’s workshop manager and technician, the group of 14 students were able to develop their real-life work skills during the design and construction of the buildings for foundation studies at Crockers.

Mike Robbins, Principal of Bridgwater College was delighted to open the buildings with the help of former workshop technician Tony Bosten. The new poultry building has been aptly named Robbin’s nest in recognition of the Principal’s support for the project. A special thanks was also given to Richard Rowley from Galliford Try, one of the UK’s leading housebuilding and construction groups, who donated the concrete floor.

Becc Baker, Curriculum Manager for Foundation Studies at Bridgwater College said,

“Thanks to Richard’s kind donation, and the hard work of our staff and students, we now have brand new purpose built buildings which will give our students the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in small animal care.”
