Team BC Elite North suffered their first league defeat of the season at home to St Brendan’s in 3 – 1 loss. The game could have gone the home side’s way, had they taken their many chances but for some poor finishing in front of goal and two mistakes at the back in the second half, lead to the away side coming away with the win.

After starting strongly, five minutes in Alex Male hit a fierce strike from 25 yards onto the post which left the St Brendan’s defence scrambling to clear. With Team BC on top, they got the break they deserved through from Charlie White, who converted from the spot after Alex Male was fouled in the box.

Team BC allowed St Brendan's back into the game and on the 30th minute they scored the equaliser. The defence were split open from a through ball and Keeper James Annison was left with no choice but to bring the player down. St Brendan's converted their spot kick.

The home side had more chances to regain the lead but were missed, the best of the opportunities falling to Josh Evans, with just six yards out managed to volley the ball onto the crossbar.

The second half was a much tighter affair as chances were limited. After failing to clear the ball in the defensive area, St Brendan's capitalised and got themselves in front to make it 2 – 1. The game remained in the balance until what followed shortly before the 70th minute put the game to bed. A freak 35 yards clearance saw the ball lob Annison in goal. After which St Brendan's held on for the win.

Jamie Laird (Head Coach) said,

“It was a frustrating afternoon, if we had taken our chances in the first half then the game should have been over in the second. This always kept St Brandan’s in the game and they took full advantage.”

Man of the Match: Jason Roots, for a very consistent performance in defence.
