Bridgwater College held its annual Apprenticeship Awards Evening recently at the College’s newest theatre venue, the McMillan Theatre, to celebrate the achievements of apprentices from across the College.
More than 140 guests attended the event to celebrate the successes of the apprentices. 18 awards were presented during the evening, including the Art and Technology Reaching your Potential award that was given to Vanessa Brown, who at the age of 29 decided on a career change and inspired others how much you can achieve if you really want to follow your career aspirations whilst juggling a busy home life.
Other winners of the Reaching your Potential awards were Kevin Crouch and April Lee, who also showed exceptional progress whilst overcoming adversity. Maisie Beaton, Rachael Moger and Natalie Collings became this year’s Apprentice Champions demonstrating extraordinary determination to develop their career whilst contributing to the success of their employer.
Bridgwater College’s Employer of the Year was awarded to Wessex Water. Wessex Water recognised their need to attract young people to their workforce and stood out for the time and investment they have devoted to offering a sustainable career path by financing bespoke facilities, a new curriculum and practical training.
The Bridgwater College Apprentice of the Year 2015 was awarded to Maisie Beaton. Maisie has demonstrated remarkable progress and through her enthusiastic attitude to learn new skills. Her high quality of work and commitment makes her employer, Thales UK, confident that she has a great future ahead of her.
Matt Tudor, Director of Business Development and International Strategy at Bridgwater College said,
“The close working relationships that Bridgwater College enjoys with businesses large and small have resulted in phenomenal growth in our apprenticeship provision. More and more young people are choosing an apprenticeship as their route into work, and employers are already seeing the benefit of recruiting a young person who adds to their bottom line from day one.
“Our Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the very best achievements of individuals and employers alike, and their enthusiasm, motivation and commitment are helping to create the skilled workforce of the future.”
