Team BC Equestrian, Bridgwater College’s newly formed Equestrian team, recently competed at their first National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) County Challenge at Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre.

A team of four riders competed in the 90cm show jumping class against 12 other school teams from across Somerset. Finishing on a score of only eight faults, Harriet Vassalli-Collard, 18, from Enmore, Kittiana French, 17, from Over Stowey, Izzy Mackin, 17, from Williton and Elaina Tabrett, 16, from Weston-super-Mare, claimed sixth place as a team. They also picked up individual placings of 10th, 23rd and 39th out of 63 riders.

Team Manager and Equestrian Centre Manager, Hatti Troake said,

“We are very pleased with this result on our first outing, having only expected to come along for the experience. It’s a great confidence boost for the team who only formed a month ago. I hope it will encourage more Bridgwater College students to join up to represent the College at equestrian competitions across the county.”

The next team competition will be the NSEA Eventers Challenge at Bicton Arena in January.
