Team BC Head Women’s Football club & Yeovil Town Ladies FC General Manager Trevor Jenkins has been appointed as ECFA Women’s National Team Assistant Coach.
The England Colleges FA National Team, consisting of the most Elite Female players in the country, who are studying within a college environment. The squad will join together at national training camps, with fixtures against other national teams, along with a tour and International fixtures.
Jenkins, who is a UEFA B Licence qualified, is also head coach at the club’s new educational partner, Bridgwater College, where he will now work alongside Welsh International Nicola Cousins. He will be working alongside a UEFA A License Head Coach at ECFA, with their first national camp running at the Etihad Campus, home of Manchester City FC.
In the New Year, the ECFA National Team will come together to play against the ISFA (Independent Schools FA) National Squad, before a fixture against the Welsh National team, which will be played at Dragon Park, Newport. The team will then travel to Portugal for their tour, which takes place in March.
Speaking about his appointment Jenkins said,
“This is a great opportunity for myself to develop further as a coach and to work alongside another highly experienced coach, will be exciting. The squad will be very talented, which will push me even further and stretch me as a coach. I feel I have a lot to offer and have the experience to work in this environment and I will of course give it 100% effort to help the squad achieve their ambition.”
In addition to this current Yeovil Town Ladies player and Wales international Nicola Cousins has joined the coaching team ready for the start of the New Year. Cousins brings a wealth of not only playing experience but also coaching as UEFA B qualified coach.
This position also highlights the direction which the partnership with Bridgwater College and Yeovil Town Ladies is going, the club hopes to recruit some of the best players in the region to experience training and playing at a high level. With both Jenkins and Cousins, both UEFA B qualified and also either playing or coaching at the highest level, it will give talented female players the best opportunity to succeed.
