Alistair studied a HND in computer studies before finding employment in a restaurant. He worked his way up in the business and within six years was successfully running a chain of restaurants in London. After deciding on a change in career, Alistair moved to running theme nights and booking DJ’s and bands for Kiss FM. Alistair met his business partner whilst promoting music events when he returned to Bristol. Twelve years later, Alistair and his business partner have built their business, planning and managing large scale events and conferences for a vast array of industries.

Alistair gave the groups a step by step guide on how to develop an event from start to finish, and were taken through an event for a local energy firm based in Bristol. The company wanted an all-day, open air event that would not only be suitable for staff, but for their children also. He spoke about how the team work with freelancers who ensure all aspects of the event are covered, from menu design, to the layout of the electrical installations. He also spoke about the pros and cons of the events industry, and what the group should do to apply and be successful.

Abbie Brogden, Work Place Coordinator at Bridgwater College said,

“I was so impressed with Alistair’s presentation, he allowed the students to gain a real insight into the world of event management and his company. He spoke through the process of receiving notice of an event through the planning to the actual event day. Alistair also offered the students the chance to complete a work placement at Bright Events, something which is exclusive to our Level 3 Business students.”
