Team BC Elite North football recorded a fantastic 10 – 0 win over City of Bath, continuing to press on with their title challenge.

Team BC started very brightly and took just three minutes to score their first goal, as Harry Fitchew scored his first of the afternoon, latching onto a loose back pass, punishing the Bath back four. It was two shortly after, some good feet from Kofi Martin and a through ball to Fitchew, which was placed under the onrushing goalkeeper.

The home side kept pressing with intents and it wasn’t long before it was 3 – 0, Owen Sellick broke into the box and was brought down, earning his side a penalty and a chance to go three up inside 25 minutes. Fitchew stepped up to bag his hat-trick and ensure Team BC had the perfect start to the game.

Team BC were relentless, and they weren't finished there. Just four minutes later it was Fitchew again, hitting a volley from the edge of the box on the turn and fired past the goalkeeper.

Kofi Martin would play the assist again, picking up the ball on the edge of the Bath box and danced through the defence before squaring the ball to Fitchew, claiming his fifth of the afternoon.

Team BC went six up before half time, this time, Sellick teased the opposing fullback and earned a free kick which he delivered into the perfect area for Team BC centre-back Reece Malcolm to head in to give coaches Tom Sage and Jamie Laird plenty of positives to discuss at the break.

The second half saw Bath put pressure on and to their credit, created a number of chances and they continued to work hard, tackle well, ensuring Team BC weren’t going to score again early on. On the 68th minute, Kieran Ireland played in Fitchew who struck his sixth and final goal of the afternoon to put Team BC seven up, seeing off a defender and placing past the keeper. Man of the match Fitchew was then replaced for a well-deserved rest and gave Martin the central striker role.

Bath kept picking at the host’s defence and earned themselves a corner. It was Goalkeeper Eric Evans who brilliantly claimed the corner and distributed a pinpoint ball up field to set up what was to be an excellent counter attacking goal. Captain Alex Male took the ball with a brilliant first touch out of his feet and continued to travel 30 yards before sliding a pass into Martin to score a well-deserved goal and seal off a perfect counter-attacking move.

Martin struck again scoring his second after another Ireland assist. Team BC kept pressing hard and won the ball back, finding the overlapping fullback Kye Whelan out wide, with room to run into and slide the ball across the six-yard box for Sellick to also score a well-deserved goal and seal the perfect 10 win.

Team BC coach Tom Sage said,

“Great performance from the team, the pleasing thing is, we have done today the things we have been working on in training. This allowed our players to witness why we set certain things up and the impact they have on the game, and inevitably the result. The players showed great courage and commitment but, more importantly, were relentless in front of goal, an area where we have struggled slightly in terms of putting chances away. Credit to City of Bath, who unlike other teams never gave up and continued to battle showing great courage and commitment.”
