Bridgwater College continue to invest in their Engineering department in order to ensure they maintain the highest level of training and education within state-of-the-art facilities. Both workshops and a planned new building ensures students, and employers who are upskilling their workforce, benefit from the top-of-the-range equipment.
Technologies across all engineering sectors are rapidly advancing, placing the skills agenda for businesses front and centre, in order for businesses to succeed in an ever-increasing competitive market place. Continued investment in equipment is a strategic priority for Bridgwater College, in order to maintain their position as a leading provider of engineering training, and to support employer partners with training and education which will surpass current and future skills demands.
Since the £8 million completion of the Energy Skills Centre in 2011, continued investment in engineering has been a high priority. In the last year the Engineering department has seen £500,000 investment on equipment, including, four computer aided design labs, three engineering workshops, dedicated software applications for hydraulics, pneumatics, Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), rapid prototyping 3D printers and the latest XYZ 5-Axis CNC milling machine with Siemens control.
Planned in the coming months is a high level of capital investment with a £6 million pound Advanced Engineering Centre to complement the existing Energy Skills Centre. This will bring even more capability to deliver outstanding, high-quality education and training in partnership with employers to further meet the growing industry demands and skills shortages.
