Enterprise plays a crucial role in the curriculum of Business and Travel students at Bridgwater College, and this year they decided to end their spring term with an enterprise day to raise money for charity.

The event was the culmination of months of hard work where the students were tasked with designing a product, packaging it and developing a marketing and sales strategy. This experience provided the students not only with a chance to test their entrepreneurial skills, but also gave them the opportunity to develop life skills such as team work, time management, organisation and communication which is vital for them to progress onto seeking employment.

The event’s success was proven when the students raised over £500 during the day for numerous charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, In Charley’s Memory, BIBIC and Children In Need.

Michelle Depuis, Head of Department for Business, Management and Computing at Bridgwater College said,

“I am delighted with the success of the event. This activity has enabled students to develop their creativity, problem solving, communication, selling, team work and mathematical skills. The progress of the students made in this event was outstanding, they have clearly developed their skills in presentation, packaging and marketing.”
