Cornish Dance Company, Cscape return to the stage with their 2015 hit, Taste, on Thursday 5 May, 7.30pm at The McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater.
Inspired by the tapestries of Grayson Perry, Taste is a deliciously touching romp of a show with humour, irreverence and playfulness at its heart. Blending dance choreographed by Sally Knight and Neil Paris (Fabulous Beast) and writing from Murray Lachlan Young, the show explores what defines our identity and ponders the intricacies behind our choices.
Originally funded by FEAST and Arts Council England, TASTE was part of Pavilion Dance South West’s Touring Project, Shift and Share, a project committed to bringing dance to more audiences in the South West.
Artistic Director, Sally Knight said,
“I wanted to make a show that would explore what we mean by taste and class. Grayson Perry’s tapestries and the accompanying TV series around social class were a huge inspiration for me and I thought it would be really interesting to create a piece of work that gets audiences talking and thinking about their own tastes. We are collaborating with theatre director Simon Harvey (o-region/Kneehigh) and writer Murray Lachlan Young (BBC Radio 4/Resident Poet, BBC6 Music), both of whom use humour and wit to brilliant effect! A really exciting team and I can't wait to get this show on the road!”
Since 2003 Cscape has developed a reputation for its dance theatre work which blends use of dance and physicality with humour and story-telling. This production sees them working with Cornish born performer Tom Jackson Greaves, who has recently toured within Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty and Kneehigh's Tristan and Yseult.
