Bridgwater College, who are Yeovil Town Ladies educational partner, hosted the Ladies Sunday training session, as the squad prepare for their local derby vs Bristol City on Thursday.
Invited in to join the Ladies squad session, was the elite male squad from Bridgwater College, who have recently been crowned south west champions, after winning their AOC Sport Category Two Elite League.
The session consisted of a warm up, followed by some small possession games, before the players participated in an 11v11 training match on the grass pitches at the college. Yeovil manager Jamie Sherwood said,
“Preparation has been going well for the squad, with our focus all geared towards Thursday's big game vs Bristol City. We value our excellent educational partnership with Bridgwater College and inviting in some top quality male footballers is just a small part of how our relationship with the college is forever growing.”
Sherwood went on to say,
“Training with these talented male players, some of whom have played Southern League Semi-Pro Football, has really helped our preparation and allowed us to put certain scenarios into place.
“The session today, was of a high tempo, which is exactly what was needed, so we can take this into Thursday's match at Huish Park. A big thanks to the lads, all of whom trained brilliantly, we really appreciate it, especially in the hot heat which we experienced today.”
The male footballers will be supporting the Ladies on the evening of Thursday 19 May, as the club have offered them complimentary tickets to the game at Huish Park.
