The Walled Gardens of Cannington will be holding their third annual Festival of Wildlife on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May, 10am – 4pm, with free entry.

Visitors can wander the Gardens and enjoy all the wildlife-related activities taking place from attendees Kingston Exotics, RSPB, Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Somerset Beekeepers Association, and Somerset Wildlife Trust and Butterfly Conservation. Last year over 600 people attended the event, enjoying the Gardens and atmosphere.

Seed of Hope will be running a wildlife trail around Cannington’s Community Orchard and on Sunday 22 May, will be opening the wildlife hide as part of the event. Staff will be on-hand to talk about the importance of wildflowers and pollinators and the work Seed of Hope does.

Visitors can take home a souvenir of the day from Somerset Wildlife Trust, who will be making badges. The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust will keep little ones occupied with family arts and crafts and a limited number of bee boxes.

Entry to the Gardens will be free for all visitors over the weekend and some small charges may be made by those charities running activities.

A visitor to last year’s event, Laura Watts said,

“We had a wonderful afternoon with lots of activities for the children and even myself and my friend dressed up for one of the activities! I feel incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful place on my doorstep! I can highly recommend getting an annual pass as it works out great value for money.”
