A group of students studying Food Technology at Bridgwater College’s Cannington Centre were given the opportunity to be a part of the audience during the recording of the BBC Radio 4 programme, Farming Today, as part of the Bristol Food Connection Week.

The popular farming radio programme, which attracts over one million listeners, hosted a lively debate between the three finalists of the Future Food category of the prestigious BBC Food and Farming Awards.

The show focused on the topic ‘How will the UK’s food be grown, distributed and sold in the future’ and gave the College students a unique insight into the ambitious ground-breaking projects that are already farming and delivering produce in innovative ways.

Julie Harris, Course Leader for Food Technology at Bridgwater College said,

“This was a great opportunity for students to find out about new and innovative food and farming methods whilst being part of the audience of the show. This made an unusual backdrop for our lesson and an experience the students enjoyed being part of. They are looking forward to hearing the programme when it is broadcast by the BBC.”
