Team BTC Equestrian, Bridgwater & Taunton College’s newly formed Equestrian team, recently competed at their first National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) County Challenge at Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre.

80cm show jumping rosette winners

On the first day a team of four riders competed in the 80cm show jumping class against eight other school teams from across Somerset & Avon. Equine student Rhea Kellow, 16, Health & Social Care student Emma Lewis, 17, and Animal Care students Anna Longford, 16, and Abbie Gearing, 18, claimed fifth place as a team.

90cm show jumping rosette winners

On day two a team of three riders competed in the 90cm class. Engineering student Ashley Palmer, 16, and Public Services student Kizzie Healey, 16, competed alongside Emma Lewis and claimed fourth place as a team as well as Ashley claiming individual fourth place out of all the riders for the Somerset region.

In the final class of the day, 100cm, both riders jumped a clear round with Ashley winning individual 2nd and Kizzie individual 6th place out of all the riders for the Somerset region.

Team Manager and Equestrian Centre Manager, Hatti Scott said,

“We are very pleased with this result on our first outing. It’s a promising start and a great confidence boost for the team. I hope it will encourage more Bridgwater & Taunton College students to join up to represent the College at equestrian competitions across the county.”

The next team competition will be the NSEA Eventers Challenge at Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre in December.
