The Team BTC Development squad claimed an undeniable victory over the Team BTC Yeovil squad recently with a 4 – 0 win.
The game got underway with the Bridgwater team taking the majority of possession within the first 15 – 20 minutes. Both teams were scrappy throughout the first half, making small mistakes which may have easily led to goals. The Bridgwater side had numerous chances to put the ball in the back of the net, however, Yeovil’s keeper had a different idea, and pulled off some fantastic saves.
Realising their mistakes, Bridgwater made a number of tactical changes making them much more decisive and more threatening to their opponents in the final third. Yeovil played five in defence making it much more difficult for Bridgwater to break down. The changes boosted Bridgwater’s confidence which led to many more chances being created. After a rough battle in the first half, the teams went in 0 – 0 at half time.
The second half began with a strong start from Bridgwater, they broke fast from the kick off and aimed to use their attacking wing players to get at the Yeovil defence. Their hard work paid off as Bridgwater’s Jamie saw in the first goal of the game with a beautifully placed finish. Shortly after came Bridgwater’s second goal which was the result of a great run down the wing by Fred Berry who placed the ball onto Regan Scotchers right foot, and he buried it in the top right of the net.
Minutes later, Benji Douthewaite-Hodge scored Bridgwater’s third goal of the game. A great piece of holding up play ended positively for him with a left foot canon finish, making the game 3 – 0 and diminishing the hopes of the visiting team.
Bridgwater’s keeper and defence were not troubled massively until Yeovil broke free with an exciting chance on goal which resulted in a near miss. In the closing minutes of the game Bridgwater’s Harrison Buller hit a screamer from just inside the half way line, which came off the underside of the crossbar leaving the keeper dazed, 4 – 0. It was the end of the game and game over for Yeovil and a massive three points for Bridgwater, another good day in the office.
