Work Experience continued this month with our year 1 business students completing a range of placements across a number of exciting and diverse industries.

Our Employers included Brymore School, Taunton Flower Show, Streamline Office Solutions, Maurice Lay, Sainsbury’s, Barclays, Clear View Windows and many more.  All of our students excelled in their placements enjoying a variety of roles and experiences. Many of our students have chosen to follow these industries and future careers so it is imperative they have the opportunity to learn from industry professionals and complete work in a real life environment.

Apart from gaining valuable work experience, our students were also able to develop more life skills with two of them spending a week in London completing placements in Deutsche Bank and Parliament. One student George Burrows spent his week with the Wells Constituency in the Houses of Parliament rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jeremy Corban. George spent time with the MPs learning about the processes of government, democracy and seeing how local constituencies ensure their views and views of their constituents are heard at Prime Ministers Question Time.

George said,

“The week was very good, I learnt so much about democracy and the way our region is represented. I had a fantastic week in London, it was a great way to engage and get involved.”

Through work experience our students have the fantastic opportunity to not only gain first-hand experiences of the work place to help them in securing future jobs and careers but to give them the chance to build contacts and get their foot on the career ladder. The programme is a fantastic opportunity which our students embraced and worked hard to achieve great results.

Abbie Brogden – Work Placement Coordinator said,

“Our student’s hard work and commitment has really paid off with fabulous feedback from the employers many of whom impressed with their work ethic, teamwork and ability to adapt to any situation in such a short space of time. Well done to all students involved, I am very proud of your achievements”
