Bridgwater & Taunton College students studying Public Service and Military Preparation courses took part in a five day insight course with the Royal Marines at the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, Devon.
The week was packed with a range of gruelling challenges designed to test personal fitness, leadership and teamwork skills. The insight course provided students with an introduction to the training and assessment methods used throughout the selection process for potential Royal Marines. Activities ranged from fitness tests and swimming challenges to an exercise on Woodbury Common that included cooking in the field and camouflage and concealment.
At the end of a physically and mentally challenging week, students were presented with certificates to mark their achievements.
Max Chappell, Military Preparation student said,
“The week away with my course was amazing and a good eye opener as I never really knew the exact things the Royal Marines did in their training.”
