The Bridgwater & Taunton College Performing Arts department are celebrating the successes of a number of Level 3 students who have secured places at some of the top Drama and Musical Theatre schools in the UK, Europe and America. These include Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, Performance Preparation Academy, Institute of the Arts Barcelona and New York’s prestigious school, AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy).
Niamh Small, who has beaten thousands of applicants to successfully win a place at AMDA to study Musical Theatre, has also been awarded a Scholarship and said,
“I really feel that over the two years I have been studying at Bridgwater & Taunton College I have learnt valuable lessons that have helped me to develop into the performer I am now, so much so that I had the confidence and skill to successfully audition for one of New York City’s top Musical Theatre schools, AMDA. I am so excited to be studying what I love in New York for two years on the integrated conservatory course, something I never could have imagined saying two years ago!”
Furthermore, Keigan Alway, who has also successfully completed the Level 3 Performing Arts course this year, has an exciting reason to celebrate. Following a demanding audition process he is now working in his first professional job as part of the cast at Disneyland Paris.
The Level 3 Performing Arts course ensures that each student is trained in all three disciplines equally so they are fully prepared for the competitive performance industry with a varied skillset. Study units include Auditions for Actors, Musical Theatre Ensemble, Jazz Dance and Developing the Voice for the Actor.
The course aims to prepare students for auditions whilst giving them the valuable experience of performing in large-scale productions. These have included Half a Sixpence, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Spamalot and Les Miserable. All lecturers have had experience professionally in the Performing Arts and our students are given industry experience, ensuring they are equipped with the professionalism and performance techniques needed for the industry itself.
