Six current and former Bridgwater & Taunton College students have been selected to coach football for Exeter City Youth Development, based at Bridgwater College Academy. They will coach talented players from the Somerset area in age groups ranging from U7s to U13s. These players will train weekly and have regular fixtures against other development centres.
The coaches who have been selected are Ryan Catterall, Reagan Keirle, Olie Hucker and Sam Sheldrake, who are all studying the Level 3 Diploma in Football Coaching. Former students Joe Syvret and Ryan Haysham will also continue to coach this year.
Tyler White, 17, from Cheddar said,
“I am delighted that I was successful in the interview process and that I have earned the chance to coach at Exeter City. This is a fantastic opportunity for me to gain confidence and experience as a coach, along with interacting with new people and learning new drills that I may be able to use in the future.”
Jamie Laird, Level 3 Football Coaching in Community Settings tutor at the College added,
“These students have all gone through a vigorous interview process with Exeter City Youth Development Director, Aaron Pugh. To work within a professional football club will be brilliant for their CVs and give them great experience that will enhance their studies.”
