“I’ve just completed my Apprenticeship and been working for Bluebird Care Home for a year. I started by studying a Diploma in Health & Social Care, but realised it wasn’t quite the direction I wanted to take. I decided an Apprenticeship in the same industry would be ideal, but with a business focus. That way I could use the knowledge I have of the care sector while learning a new aspect of the business.

I saw the vacancy and applied through Bridgwater & Taunton College. I was lucky enough to be offered the position after an interview with the care home, and started working four days a week while attending College one day a week. Once a month my Assessor would visit me at work to offer support and resolve any problems. She also helped me with my assignments and tailored my college work to what was required by the care home.

The Apprenticeship allowed me to earn a small salary while studying and getting fantastic experience. Now that I’ve completed the qualification, they’ve offered me a full-time post and promoted me to Co-ordination Assistant. I don’t believe I could have achieved this without studying the Apprenticeship at Bridgwater & Taunton College and finding such a perfect vacancy.”
