The day started at the Museum of Natural Science, where we got to hear about and hold alligators and snakes! All of us plucked up the courage to hold them, and took selfies with the baby gator.

After a never-ending lunch at the Golden Corral, we had a bit of spare time, so paid a visit to the Agricultural Museum. Although not on the itinerary, it was a very interesting visit, especially the old grocery store, complete with old Coke coolers and antique cash register.

Next stop was Walmart and the shopping mall, where most people stocked up on American candy and Pop Tarts… One shop to experience was the Bass Pro shop, which is completely different from anything we’ve ever seen at home. There was every conceivable item you could need for hunting, fishing, or anything outdoors, including a massive range of guns and crossbows.

Opposite the Bass Pro was the stadium of the Braves baseball team, and we were lucky enough to have tickets to the season’s opening game. Once we’d bought out most of the merchandise from the shop, we settled down with hot dogs and fries to watch the game. Although we didn’t know all the rules, we generally got to grips with what was going on, and certainly got into the spirit of things, with the chanting and video cams.

A very long day, and some tired students, but some great experiences.
