Team BTC’s Elite male football team returned to league action with a home fixture against Exeter College.
During the first 30 minutes both teams cancelled each other out and there was little goal mouth action from either side.
On 34 minutes the game sprung into life with Jamie Moss picking the ball up on the half way line and playing it out wide to Jordan Lovibond. He dribbled past three players and cut the ball back to Moss who completed his run with a first time finish into the corner of the goal.
On 55 minutes a cross into the box from Exeter and some hesitant defending from Team BTC allowed the Exeter number 11 to pass the ball into the net to level things up at 1-1.
On 65 minutes Team BTC changed their formation to 3-5-2 which allowed the midfield to match up, and going forward the front two looked a lot more threatening.
A Team BTC corner was taken on 75 minutes and Liam Gilbert rose like a salmon to head into the corner only for it to be cleared of the line.
In the last 10 minutes of the game it was only Team BTC who looked like winning, and the deciding goal came on 90 minutes when Niall Carr gambled on a back header and as the keeper came rushing out he lobbed the ball over his head. As the ball then came down, Carr finished it off with his head. This led to a knee slide from Carr and all his team mates piling on top of him in celebration, showing the togetherness of the squad.
Jamie Laird, Team BTC Coach, said it was a credit to the squad that after conceding the first goal they stuck together and got themselves back into the game and deservedly went on to win.
