Bridgwater & Taunton College is delighted that three of its Apprentices have won trophies at the Somerset Apprenticeship Awards. The glittering event took place on Friday 9 March at Haynes Motor Museum. The event is run by Grow Somerset Talent, a group set up eight years ago by colleges and education providers to promote the benefits of Apprenticeships across Somerset.
Melissa Teacy from Street was the proud winner of the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year award. She is completing an Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership at 1610 Leisure in Glastonbury and has helped many individuals reach their fitness goals. She is all set to move on to the Level 3 Personal Trainer Apprenticeship in order to progress in the sector.
Cassandra Walker from Bridgwater has won the Career Development Award. Having kick-started her career in Engineering with a double Distinction for her Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, she is now going above and beyond the expectations of a first year Apprentice at Abbeywood MOD in Filton. Her employer describes her as a natural leader with a high degree of common sense and maturity.
Tara Stone has won the Advanced Apprentice of the Year Award as a result of embracing her position at the UK Hydrographic Office whilst completing a Higher Apprenticeship in Business & Professional Administration. Her employer explains, “Tara has been a breath of fresh air in the team. Always positive, eager to learn and willing to take on new responsibilities. She assimilates new information and processes very quickly, and has helped us improve our systems and ways of working.”
Principal of Bridgwater & Taunton College, Andy Berry, said of the students’ success,
“We are delighted for Melissa, Tara and Cassandra. For their achievements as Apprentices to be recognised in this way is testament to the hard work and dedication each of them shows to their roles and their career development. Congratulations to them, and to all of our finalists.”
