Amy Shakeshaft and Laura Williams were two of the 16 finalists that competed for the prestigious RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year title. Their submission required an enormous amount of skill and the standard of workmanship amongst the competitors was very high this year.

They were asked to design and produce a Floral Wedding Throne with at least 2/3 of the finished design made up of fresh flower and/or plant material, and be visually dominant.

Amy and Laura started their learning journey with the College at our Yeovil campus where they studied Level 3 Floristry. They both progressed to the Level 4 qualification and are soon to compete the Higher Diploma in Floristry at the Cannington campus.

Laura commented, “It’s been a lot of hard work and needed a huge amount of dedication, both on a personal level and financially, but what a journey. I’ve pushed myself to the limit and it’s all finally paid off. I’d recommend any student studying floristry to get involved in competitions as you learn so much from everyone, even if you don’t place.”
