Term Dates
The academic year, which starts in September, is split into three terms: autumn, spring and summer. Terms are separated by Christmas, Easter and summer holidays respectively. Each is made up of two parts, separated by week-long half term holidays. Specific dates are listed below.
Bridgwater & Taunton College is closed over the Christmas holiday but remains open during Easter, summer and half term holidays. There are a number of public single day bank holidays throughout the year (listed below) where the College will be closed on these dates.
Start and end dates for Higher Education (HE) courses differ in some instances and these are marked below.
2024/25 Academic Year
Autumn Term
First Half: Monday 2 September – Friday 25 October 2024 (8 weeks)
(HE students start Monday 16 September)
Half Term: Monday 28 October – Friday 1 November 2024
Second Half: Monday 4 November – Thursday 19 December 2024 (7 weeks)
Independent study / inset days: Thursday/Friday 24/25 October 2024. Wellbeing Day: Friday 20 Dec 2024
Spring Term
First Half: Monday 6 January – Friday 14 February 2025 (6 weeks)
(Independent study / inset days: Thursday / Friday 13 /14 February 2025)
Half Term: Monday 17 February – Friday 21 February 2025
Second Half: Monday 24 February – Friday 4 April 2025 (6 weeks)
Summer Term
First Half: Tuesday 22 April – Friday 23 May 2025 (5 weeks)
Half Term: Monday 26 May – Friday 30 May 2025
Second Half: Monday 2 June – Friday 27 June 2025 (4 weeks)

Reception Opening Times
Our receptions are open at the following times:
Bridgwater Campus
Monday to Thursday: 8.15 am to 7 pm during term times, 8.15 am to 5 pm during holidays.
Friday: 8.15am to 4.30 pm.
Taunton Campus
Monday and Tuesday: 8.15 am to 5 pm.
Wednesday and Thursday: 8.15 am to 7 pm, 8.15 am to 5 pm during holidays.
Friday: 8.15am to 4.30 pm.
Cannington Campus
Monday to Thursday: 8.15 am to 4.45 pm during term times, 8.15 am to 12.15 pm during holidays.
Friday: 8.15am to 4.15 pm during term times, 8.15 am to 12.15 pm during holidays.
