M-CNC, a precision engineering company based in Bridgwater, is determined to maintain Bridgwater’s strong reputation within engineering by investing in engineering skills for the future.

M-CNC has a commitment to improving the current engineering skills in the South West – a commitment which has seen the company mentor three apprentices since 2011. In 2019, the organisation has offered a further three individuals apprenticeships, reflecting its intention to invest in and train the engineers of the future. These apprentices are all trained with the support of Bridgwater & Taunton College, and M-CNC’s Managing Director Mark Wylde is keen to ensure that the new recruits can also benefit from his 30 years of hands-on experience.

M-CNC was named ‘Small Employer of the Year’ at the Bridgwater & Taunton College Awards earlier this year, and their Apprentice Quality Inspector Edward Morgan was also one of just thirteen nominees for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ from 3,000 students. Proving himself to be a wonderful investment, Edward found himself taking on additional responsibilities when a staff member left despite bring in post for only one month. It is for this reason that he was nominated for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ and, although he did not win the award, M-CNC is very proud of his achievements to date and his future in the industry.

Mark Wylde, Managing Director of M-CNC, comments:

“Everyone at M-CNC is delighted and proud to have won the ‘Small Employer of the Year’ Award. We understand how fundamental skills, knowledge and experience are to our industry, and we are determined to support the future of engineering excellence in Bridgwater through apprenticeships with Bridgwater & Taunton College.”
