As a student at Bridgwater & Taunton College, you can apply for funding to do work experience with one of our partners abroad. A typical placement lasts two weeks and can help to improve your confidence, develop your skills and increase your employability.
What to expect:
If you successfully apply for funding to study and/or do a work placement abroad, you can expect to spend two weeks in another European country where your expenses are paid in full, including travel and accommodation. The money you receive is a contribution cost but it should cover your entire visit.
As well as learning new skills that will help you to succeed in your field of study, you will also be able to develop key skills such as initiative, independence and motivation – all highly desirable to future employers.
You will also have the chance to explore a new country, start learning some different languages, meet new people and have plenty of fun!
Erasmus was a really good way to increase my confidence, I met so many new people and the opportunities involved were amazing, one of the best weeks!

Erasmus was a great experience to help with my confidence and independence, an insight into adult life!
Charlotte Gazzard, Level 3 Business Studies student
I thoroughly enjoyed my Erasmus+ trip to Dordrecht in Holland last May. During the trip, I made friends for life who gave me a really good understanding of what it was like to live in a different country. Being a part of the Erasmus+ programme has helped massively with future ambitions
Rosie May, a former student
Who can apply for funding?
Currently, the opportunities to study in Europe are only available to students studying vocational courses.
Where can I go?
We have several links with institutions across Europe, but where you go will often depend on what you are studying as certain institutions might specialise in a certain area.
Here are a few examples of where students have studied and in what field:
HE Charter 2014-2020:
Bridgwater & Taunton College was awarded the HE charter in 2014. It currently runs until 2020 and allows the institutions to both receive and send staff and students to other HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) across Europe.
