Bridgwater & Taunton College students have been celebrating their A Level results, marking yet another year of excellent academic and personal achievement.
Andy Berry, College Principal & Chief Executive said,
We are absolutely delighted with our students’ results and it has been great to be part of today’s celebration. As they collected their results, I was privileged to hear their success stories and exciting plans as they pursue their passions at top universities such as Oxford University, UCL, Cardiff and Exeter University.
Students achieved a 100% pass rate in the majority of subjects, and in a number of subjects, students achieved an extremely high number of A* to B grades. Of note are Chemistry, French, Design & Technology, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
Head of A Levels, Vanessa Hughes said,
This is the first year of the linear A Level programme with students being examined at the end of the two years. It has been a fantastic year, and today is all about our students and our staff who have loved being with them and their families as they opened their results.
A Level students who have done particularly well include Toby Rose, formerly from Robert Blake Science College who achieved two A*s and an A, and is off to Oxford to study Law, and Elliot Hunt received an A* and two As, and has been accepted by UCL to study Chemical Engineering. Jodie Filer formerly from Broadoak Academy secured her place to study Sports Management at Loughborough University after achieving two As and a B. She commented;
The tutors have been brilliant. I wouldn’t have done this well without them.
Isobel Crocker formerly from Kings of Wessex did better than she expected, achieving an A and two Bs, and said;
The second year was tough, so I’m so happy to have what I need to study psychology at Cardiff University. Now I’m excited to start and can’t wait to celebrate with my family.
