What is a Sport Development Day?
A Sport Development Day gives you the chance to come to one of our campuses in Bridgwater or Taunton (don’t forget to check which one!) and train with our professional coaches and course tutors. You play your chosen sport using our outstanding facilities, such as our 3G pitch, fully-equipped fitness suite or Sports Halls, developing your skills and knowledge of the game. You can also ask more about Team BTC and the courses we offer at BTC. If you are thinking about studying a course at BTC, it’s also a great way to get to know our staff and campus.
Who can come to a Sport Development Day?
Sport Development Days are open to any pupil in year 10 or year 11 at school. All abilities are welcome.
Which sports do you offer?
We have held Sport Development Days in netball, women’s and men’s football, rugby and basketball. See below for a list of what’s currently on offer. If we have enough interest in other sports such as hockey, golf, trampolining, we would look into offering a Development Day for this sport.
When are Sport Development Days?
We run them during the October, February and May half term holidays and at Easter. We also offer a pre-season programme throughout the Summer. See below or our Events page for a list of current dates.
I’ve missed the last Sport Development Day. Will there be more?
Yes! All of the dates will be listed on this page or the Events page on our website.
I really want to join Team BTC and represent the College in competition. Will doing a Sport Development Day help me get selected?
We’re really proud of the high level of sport played at BTC and how well our teams – also known as Team BTC – do in competition. If you’re hoping to join one of our teams, coming to a Sport Development Day will give you the opportunity to meet our coaches before you start your course. You will be able to sign up for Team BTC training sessions when you start in September. Who knows where it might lead!
Are your coaches qualified?
Our coaches are all highly qualified and first aid trained. They will use their knowledge and experience to help you learn how to improve your game.
Do I have to have applied to study at BTC to join a Sport Development Day?
No. Anyone in year 10 or 11 at school can sign up for a Sport Development Day. You don’t have to have applied for a course at BTC. We would be more than happy to support you if you would like to do so however.
How much does it cost to take part in a Sports Development Day?
Sports Development Days are free, but you must book a place.
How do I book my place?
All bookings are processed by Eventbrite, and you can see more information at the bottom of this page.
What do I need to bring?
You must bring suitable kit to wear for your chosen sport, as well as plenty to drink and light refreshments. Unless exempt, you must also wear a face covering when visiting our campuses.
