Team BTC/Bridgwater Town U18’s are just one game away from the 1st round proper in the FA Youth Cup. After defeating Torquay UTD U18’s in the last round 2-1, they face a tough test against Oxford City FC U18’s on Tuesday 15 October. The game will be played with our partners Bridgwater Town FC on their first team pitch with the game kicking off at 7:30 pm. Our players are keen to get a large crowd down to watch and help support them into the next round where the League 1 and 2 academies will enter the competition.
With a good number of the players from Taunton, Bridgwater, North Somerset and Yeovil District Schools it’s rewarding to see these young players ‘from a variety of associations’ progressing together and forming a strong bond.
Mo Hopkins – Team BTC Men’s 1 Coach
Some have been together through their local district schools associations for over three years and represented Somerset at U16 and U18 levels also. Its testament to the staff at Bridgwater & Taunton College that they have provided a program that meets both the player’s education and sporting needs linked with a number of clubs to assist in their development.
It would be great to see the local schools and football clubs come out in force and support the players who are very much part of the Somerset County community. The more people at the game the better – supporting the boys onto the next stage.
This is a great opportunity for the local community to come and see this special group of youngsters compete against another top team. The previous rounds against Bristol Manor Farm and Torquay UTD have been a great advert for youth football and shows off the great work that our coaches are doing with these fantastic players. We hope to see as many people down at the game as possible.
