Students and staff across the three campuses once again had fun raising over £4,300 for Raise & Give (RAG) Day. This takes the College’s charity donation tally for the year to over £45,000 to date. The three charities chosen for RAG Day this year by the College’s Student Union were the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, Dementia UK and Calm.
Activities ranged from raffles, best dressed room, quizzes, silent disco, costume competitions and games, as well as a sponsored head shave by Automotive Engineering tutor Jim Ross.
Students studying Level 2 Early Childhood Studies ran a Christmas Stay & Play at the Taunton campus. Families paid a £4 donation to take part in 15 Christmas themed activities such as making cookies and reindeer food, embellishing a Christmas decoration and playing in fake snow.
Parents commented,
“It was a great morning’s entertainment with lots of activities my three year old really enjoyed, and lovely that the students ran them.”
Course Leader Melanie Sutton said,
“I’d like to say thank you to all the parents and children that came to our event and helped raise £65. Also a big ‘well done’ to the students – they were all extremely keen and motivated to plan this event and professionally led their activities.”
