During the academic year, BTC students and apprentices have participated in many fund-raising activities, with the annual Comic Relief charity event another great opportunity for the students to raise money for a worthy cause.

Four teams in total participated in the event, which was played in good spirit earlier in March. After the first round of matches and a penalty shoot-out, both EDF apprentice teams made it through to the final. Unfortunately, due to a general lack of fitness, the staff team could only manage one match and had to concede the third-place playoff to the full-time students. The final between the EDF apprentices was a competitive affair, however in the end the first years just edged out the second years in a close final.

Thanks to everyone who supported and organised the event – in total the students raised over £70 for Comic Relief.

Curriculum Manager Simon Burt said:

The event was a great success. For all the students to come together with staff to raise money for charity in such a positive way was inspiring to see.
