Level 3 Fashion students were lucky enough to have enjoyed a guest lecture from Sian Clarke from ‘Styled by Sian’ last week. Sian gave an inspiring speech where she talked about her journey from education into employment, her experiences of exhibiting work at trade shows, making contacts in the industry and getting head-hunted for different roles. Sian was honest and open about the highs and lows of her career, which allowed her to give particularly insightful advice for the students. They learnt about the benefits of taking every opportunity as it arises and also to look at the lessons that can be learnt when facing inevitable challenges. On top of this, Sian gave practical information about setting up her own styling business, as well as how taking additional courses at the London College of Fashion really helped her to develop skills and find her niche.
