The FE Week and AELP AAC Apprenticeship Awards are a celebration of excellence in apprenticeship delivery in the UK, and provide an opportunity to give the recognition employers and providers deserve.
The Awards is a joint project by FE Week and AELP, and usually culminates with the national awards ceremony gala dinner in July. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 finalist presentation took place online with impressionist and comedian Rory Bremner hosting and other prestigious guests in attendance.
Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) celebrated reaching the finals in three categories at the awards, which comes after being shortlisted in two categories at the Tes FE Awards 2021 just one week previously.
BTC has been revealed as the only finalist from Somerset in the following categories:
- Agriculture, environmental and animal care apprenticeship provider of the year
- Outstanding contribution to the development of apprenticeships: provider (sponsored by City & Guilds and ILM)
- Outstanding contribution to the development of apprenticeships: individual (sponsored by City & Guilds and ILM) – Andy Berry, Principal & CEO of BTC.
By capitalising on its geographical location and exemplary employer engagement, the College has developed bespoke training provision to address identified workforce needs in priority sectors and become one of the largest apprenticeship providers in England.
Shane Mann, managing director of FE Week‘s publisher Lsect, said:
These finalists are some of the very best of the apprenticeship sector and show just what can be achieved. The past year has placed an enormous strain on all our lives, both in our private lives and our places of work. The judges were astounded by the innovation, tenacity and thoughtfulness of apprenticeship providers and employers across the UK. These awards are just one of many ways we can show our appreciation and celebrate their exceptional work.
The AAC Apprenticeship Awards Gala Dinner & Awards evening will take place in Birmingham on Thursday 8th July.
