As the first cohort of T Level students complete their first year, BTC is delighted to launch more subjects in September 2021.
T Levels are an exciting opportunity for school leavers looking for a qualification equivalent to A Levels that includes a high proportion of industry experience. Students spend 20 percent of their time in the workplace and 80 percent in classroom-based education. Each T Level is developed with the support of businesses and employers such as the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust who are offering 315 hours ‘on the job’ experience under the expert guidance of professionals.
The top six T Levels available this September include:
1. Digital: Data Management
The data management T Level provides a range of essential skills needed in the business world, such as the use of data, recognising patterns, making recommendations to businesses and data security.
2. Building Services Engineering for Construction
This T Level prepares students to design, install or service equipment in commercial building, and offers two pathways; electrotechnical engineering or plumbing and heating.
3. Digital: Software Development
For those with a passion for the digital environment, topics include problem solving, programming, emerging issues and how they impact society, as well as legislation and regulation.
4. Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction
in the Taunton campus’s newly refurbished construction centre students are taught design, surveying, sustainability, science, building technology and digital technology.
5. Education and Childcare
This T Level is for students considering a career in teaching or early years. It focusses child development and behaviours of those aged 0 to 19, alongside a range of theoretical approaches and knowledge.
6. Health (Nursing)
