From September, a new Engineering T Level will join the suite of Level 3 qualifications available at Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC)’s Taunton campus.
T Levels are two-year technical courses equivalent to three A Levels. Developed with employers, these qualifications enable students to gain the right combination of core skills, occupational knowledge and sector expertise needed to thrive in the workplace. An industry placement is a key part of the programme.
The Engineering T Level consists of a technical qualification in Manufacturing Processing and Control Engineering, an employer-set project designed to combine core knowledge and skills to develop a substantial piece of work in response to an employer-set brief, and an occupational specialism in manufacturing technologies.
Head of the National Centre for Nuclear Paul Goss said
The new T Level in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing offers an alternative route for school leavers considering studying Maths or Physics at College. Not only does it offer hands-on learning, practical skills development and industry experience, this course provides a route to university, enabling students to keep their options open whether they want to progress to Higher Education or employment after college.
BTC offers a range of T Levels in subjects including Health (Nursing), Digital, Education & Childcare, Finance, Accounting and On-site Construction. To find out more, visit the T Level pages or come to our Taunton open event in January.
