The Bridgwater & Taunton College Women’s Football team have taken victory over Coleg Y Cymoedd.

BTC started slow after kicking off, but soon picked up the pace, resulting in an early goal from Habbits, who overlapped on the right, firing it into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Soon after restarting, BTC had a corner, taken by Garratt, who carefully placed her inswinger, making it 2-0.

Coleg Y Cymoedd pushed to get a goal back, but BTC were clinical in the final third, with Bedford splitting the defence with a perfectly timed through-ball from Asker for a third goal. BTC continued to put the opposition under pressure where Bedford intercepted the ball played to the keeper and placed it in the top corner. The high press was working and BTC soon scored from it again when Markham won the ball on the edge of the box and tapped it in. Coleg Y Cymoedd then won a free kick on the wing and impressively placed the ball on the edge of the box for one of their players to score, making it 5-1 at half time.

BTC started strong in the second half. Owen played a great ball through the middle to Markham, who timed her run perfectly to shoot then score on the rebound off the keeper. BTC kicked off again and soon won the ball in midfield, where Garratt scores a screamer from 40 yards out, making it 7-1. Nicholls subs on and within a minute scores from a fumble from the keeper. Coleg Y Cymoedd really pushed for another goal, but the BTC defence held them off, and Nicholls put away the last goal following up on Bedford’s saved shot.

Player of the Match – Gracie Owen
