Team BTC 2-4 Bishop Burton College

The day was blessed with glorious sunshine, plus many of the College’s students taking time to come along and support Team BTC. Both sides started cautiously, however our visitors looked good on the ball. This led to Team BTC conceding a corner. This shook up the home side, who started to piece together some good attacking play. Callum Chivers looked to run beyond the defender, who then clipped his foot ‘penalty!’ Stepping up and with no hesitation, Mike Murphy struck the ball home, making it 1-1. It wasn’t long before another penalty was given and Murphy again struck a clean ball beyond the keeper.

In the second period, both sides cancelled each other out for a short while before the visitors took advantage of an unsighted Nathan Dimond on a strike that deflected past him into the net, making it 2-2. A quickly taken free kick and some passive pressure allowed the Bishop Burton player to tee-up a strike that flew past an unsighted Nathan Dimond. Team BTC fought hard to get a goal back, but it was a free kick that won Bishop Burton the game 4-2, ending Team BTC’s impressive ECFA Premier Cup run.

Team BTC defended well, showing great composure with their half court press and countering quickly with much success. After some outstanding saves from keeper Ben Jackson, Team BTC were ahead at the break 5-3. The second half started with some more pace and Strode pressing high to try and get some goals back. Team BTC 5-0 Pro:Direct Academy

Men’s 3 continued their winning streak with a thrilling 5-0 win over Pro Direct. The first goal came from a well-taken set piece from the wide channel to hit Jake Brice’s head and into the goal. Both teams had chances but struggled to find the back of the net in the first half, leaving it 1-0 at the break.

Team BTC came out strong in the second half and it didn’t take long for Jake Leavy to knock past the keeper. The third began as a free kick to the Pro:Direct defence which was won back and made 3-1 by Harrison Hambly. Hambly quickly scored again with a burgkamp turn and a volley from Jake Leavy, which hit the crossbar only for Harrison Hambly to follow up with a header, making the score 3-0. Jake Leavy soon had another chance and scored a screamer just inside the box, hitting the cross bar and in. The final goal came from Jaden Sigobodhla comfortably placing it in the back of the net.

Team BTC 91-8 Yeovil College

Team BTC played Yeovil at home and came away with a very much deserved win. The team started off strong and, despite the heat, kept play up to a very high standard, with shots constantly going in from the shooters. With changes bringing on new players, all BTC players worked at a high intensity to keep the ball flowing down court. Amazing turnovers and interceptions from everyone meant Team BTC were 40 up going into half-time. A massive push to finish the game and Yeovil couldn’t match the consistent pace Team BTC had throughout. The match ended 91-8.
