Men’s 2 and Men’s 3 Football
Team BTC hosted a futsal festival at the Taunton campus involving Exeter College, Strode College and BTC’s 2s and 3s.
First game of the day for the Men’s 2s was against Strode. Team BTC were patient both in and out of possession, which paid off when Leo James won the ball and hit Tom Stone on the back post to make it 1-0. The second goal came from a throw from GK Ben Jackson, who hit Tom Stone for the second goal. Team BTC dominated the game and, after goals from Tai Bewes, Josh Hurford and Leo James, it ended 5-1.
Team BTC Men’s 3’s first game was against a very strong Exeter side. The team battled well but Exeter came out on top.
The second game for the Men’s 2s was against a well-drilled Exeter side who were quick to take the lead at the start. Team BTC reacted well to this and some great combos from Leo James, Tom Stone and Toby Lee quickly led to a goal, but Team BTC were unfortunate to concede again after an outstanding double save from Ben Jackson.
Second game for the 3s was against Strode. The 3s started moving the ball well and it was not long until they went 1-0 up. Team BTC kept this momentum and took home the win.
Last game of the day was the big derby where the Team BTC 2s took on the 3s and came out with a 5-3 win in the L Block Derby, but at the end of the series it was the Men’s 3s who took the title of South West Futsal Champions.
Women’s Football
The Women’s Football team travelled to Cardiff to compete in their futsal festival. After a strong win over Cardiff City Foundation, Team BTC Women’s Football came out with the title after winning the festival. A great addition to our Women’s Football’s achievements from this season after a Cat 1 league win and reaching the semi-finals in the national play-offs, now their attention turns to the cup final match against Millfield.
