Team BTC’s Women’s Footballers are through to National Finals after an unbeaten run in regional tournament.

The team made the short trip to Strode College to compete in the AoC South West Regional Championships. Nine teams entered and were all hungry for the victory. Team BTC’s eyes were set on the dream.

Team BTC started well with a convincing result against Weston College. The next few games were also won comfortably against Yeovil, Strode, New Swindon and St Brendans. Team BTC knew it would be a dramatic final game vs Exeter and prepared well, ensuring the goal difference left us in a positive position.

Both Exeter and Team BTC were unbeaten and both were hungry for the victory and the chance to compete at Nottingham in the finals. The next 12 minutes meant everything. Team BTC started well, showing no signs of fatigue after a long day. It wasn’t long before the first goal was scored and was quickly followed by another. Team BTC managed the game well stopping any chance of Exeter getting through. After an exciting final game, the whistle went and Team BTC did it, they won the Regional Championships.

The women’s team were ecstatic with the results and their performance on the day. They were unbeaten throughout the whole tournament, didn’t concede a goal throughout and were crowned South West Regional champions. The team will now compete in the national finals in Nottingham in April, the first time in the teams and College’s history!
