Team BTC Weekly Roundup (18 January)

Men’s 1 Football

Team BTC 4 – 4 Cardiff & Vale

Team BTC had a blistering start with Parsons setting up Haden to open the scoring. The opposition replied scoring two goals before the break.

In the second half a much more cohesive and determined display got Team BTC back on level terms, McKenna converting from the spot. Our visitors scored another two in reply before we again rallied to score through Hibbert and Smith. A much better second half display showing good spirit allowed the game to conclude in a competitive draw.

POTM – Ryan Hibbert

Men’s 2 Football

SGS 4 – 2 Team BTC

Team BTC made the trip to SGS to play the reverse of their back to back fixtures after a convincing result against them last week. Team BTC had a strong start where they maintained possession and SGS didn’t see much of the ball. Team BTC put the pressure on SGS and James won the ball from a high press, took a touch and slotted it home to make it 1-0. At the end of the second half, SGS won a free kick on the edge of the box. A well taken set piece made it level at half time, 1-1.

The second half was more competitive with opportunities from both sides. Team BTC were getting forward but couldn’t find the goal and it wasn’t long before SGS put themselves ahead with two goals in the space of 5 minutes. Sigobodhla pulled one back for Team BTC after a rebounded shot from James fell at his feet on the back post. One more set piece goal from SGS made it 4-2 at the whistle.

POTM – Leo James
