Following a location move, Lily Hext had to rethink her options having previously secured a place on the full-time Level 3 Business Course. Lily received support and information from the College as well as “excellent customer service” which she explains was as a major contributor in her decision to study at BTC.

After exploring the range of options available to her, Lily decided the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship with Business and Administration was the right path for her and enrolled. Not only did Lily decide to study at the College, she chose BTC as her employer too and undertook the industrial placement part of her Apprenticeship in the Admissions Team at BTC.

The Apprenticeship route was perfect for Lily given her new location, she also received excellent support, she said;

My apprenticeship lessons were very flexible and worked around issues such as transport and attendance. My assessor gives me great advice, including career help, which I also use as part of my own personal gain. My employer understands the responsibilities that they have and how they can support me throughout the duration of my apprenticeship

As a practical learner, Lily excelled in an environment where she could apply what she was learning in the classroom to real life situations. As a result, she found ways to improve workflows and processes in her workplace. Something which would not have been possible were it not for her Apprenticeship.

Due to her hard work and willingness to learn, Lily has secured herself a permanent administrator role at BTC where she will look to progress on to completing a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

Following this, Lily is keen to take her qualifications up to degree and even masters level in Business Management. Lily’s ultimate career aspiration is to own a successful interior design business that supports anyone looking for work experience, apprenticeships or training opportunities, much like herself.

As well as her own hard work, Lily also recognised the role that support from others has played in getting her that step closer to her goals;

I have received support from multiple staff members throughout the College, especially in times where I have reached out to them and asked them for feedback, information or assistance to benefit my apprenticeship and my personal goals.

She added;

My personality has grown throughout my apprenticeship as well as my confidence. I feel that I now have the essential skills and knowledge to be able to progress further into the business sector and follow my career goals.

Here at BTC we wish Lily the most success in achieving her career goals and are proud to be a part of her journey.
