Bridgwater & Taunton College is pleased to begin a working partnership with the Women’s Work Lab (WWL), a community interest company supporting unemployed mums back into work.
The FREE programmes offered by WWL combine bespoke classroom training with a work placement, one-to-one career coaching and mentoring; helping mums to transform their lives by rebuilding confidence and helping them on their journey to find work that works for them and their families.
The Women’s Work Lab has supported nearly 300 women back into work since its inception in 2019. They include Sarah, who faced redundancy four years ago and had been at home bringing up her daughter since. She said;
“I cannot put into words how much the programme has helped me. I felt so encouraged and there was no such thing as a stupid question. I am now working as an Administrator at an amazing organisation. I would have never applied for the role without WWL, or had the confidence that I have now.”
The next programme will begin on Thursday 21 September 2023 at the Mercure Hotel in Bridgwater. The programme will include;
- Five weeks of classroom-based training plus home learning (six hours per week)
- A four-week work placement (15 hours per week) – previous providers have included Wessex Water, Sirona Healthcare and the Citizens Advice Bureau
- Two weeks of wrap-up classroom-based training plus home learning (6 hours per week)
The programme is open to mums aged 19 and over receiving benefits and looking to find meaningful work. The partnership with BTC offers added value in that participants may be signposted to further courses and training at the College if relevant to them.
