Team BTC 60 – 67 Truro 3

In a late swap, Team BTC hosted Truro 2 rather than Truro 3, and were looking to build on last week’s buzzer beater victory against Exeter College 2. Alfie King started the game strong with 3 consecutive 3 pointers but was unable to prevent Truro 2 taking a 20-13 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Charlie Brennan and James Horsfield aimed to lead the comeback and chipped in with a combined 12 points to help BTC reduced the deficit by 1 point to 36-30. The 3rd quarter was evenly contested as Truro 2 were able to takes their 6 point lead into the 4th quarter. Truro 2 managed to extend their lead to 14 points with 3 minutes left on the clock. This led to 1 last roll of the dice initiated by team captain, Alex Taylor, to full court press Truro 2 in an effort to force turnovers and secure quick baskets. It looked to have worked as another unlikely BTC comeback was on the cards as the team scored 9 points in 2 minutes to bring themselves within 5 points of Truro with a minute left. Unfortunately Truro 2 were able to see the win out.

Netball 1s

Team BTC 61 – 24 Yeovil

The game started steady in the first 5 minutes however BTC took control very quickly allowing us to have a strong lead. With consistent shooting and reliable feeds, the girls made it look easy scoring on our centre passes, while the defence were increasing the lead by turning the ball over and getting many interceptions for the attack to follow through and score the goals. The final result 61:24 to BTC making it our third win in a row. POM- Tilly CPOM- Fiona

Men’s Rugby

Exeter 4 41 – 12 Team BTC

Always a tough trip south to Exeter and this proved no exception. A slow start from BTC led to Exeter scoring two early try’s. After some sustained defensive pressure George Francis forced his way over to hopefully spark BTC into life but it was Exeter who finished the half with another try of their own. The start BTC were looking for came in the second half when indiscipline from Exeter provided good field position for Alfie Hodge to exploit the space and go over. This was the last of the away teams scores with Exeter then taking the game away from BTC with a few injuries and a reshuffle leading to two more late tries to end the game 41-12.

Men’s 1 Football

Merchants 1 – 3 Team BTC

Men’s 1 away to Total Pro Soccer in Keynsham came away with a clean 3-1 win with many highlighted opportunities through out the game. After a slow start Freddie Haden takes the ball round the keeper and slots it home to make it 1-0 coming into half time. TPS break away early in the second and equalise making it 1-1. Blake Kearley then receives the ball edge of the box slotting it top left with a very precise finish. Theo Worth then finishes the game off with a great finish across the box to end the game. MOTM – Tatenda Gumbo for his great leadership, defensive awareness and care in the back line.

Men’s 2 Football

Exeter 2 4 – 0 Team BTC

The mens 2’s played a very competitive game against a highly organised and well drilled Exeter team. Having not played a game since Christmas and calling up a number of players from the 3rd team, Team BTC started the game well creating some great chances early one. Despite this, Exeter scored against the run of play and this sparked a resurgent Exeter into life. Team BTC defended well throughout but were opened up late on as Exeter started to convert chances. Team BTC battled hard and should be proud of their performance.

Men’s 3 Football

Team BTC 7 – 2 Robin’s Foundation

Team BTC Men’s 3’s picked up a big win on Wednesday afternoon, as they beat Robin’s Foundation 7-2.

The first goal came from Fynnlay Smith, he deftly looped the ball over the goalkeeper into the top left corner, assisted by Corbin Brosius. The second came from the returning Ryan Pinkham, a beautiful run from him was spotted by Fynnlay, Ryan collected it well and slotted home, to double the lead. A third was not too far away, as Ryan Pinkham found himself on the scoresheet for the second time. A great pressing maneovre from Toby Gough forced the defender into passing the ball to Ryan, who pounced on the mistake and finished with great composure. The final goal of the first half came from Toby Gough. Great footwork from Corbin on the left-wing, left Toby had an easy finish to put the game to bed.

Team BTC did not hold back however and within a minute of the restart an Adam Davies header rippled the net. The sixth goal was scored by Corbin, after great turn by Ryan he layed of Corbin Brosius who beat the goalkeeper at the near post. The final goal was from Luke Haysham. Charlie Powell, from the centre of midfield, pulled off an extraordinary Duncan Edwards-esque pass, to Luke Haysham who scored Team BTC’s second.

MOTM goes to Charlie Powell who controlled midfield superbly, and produced the most exciting pass of the game.
